When installing SeaMonkey 1.0.2 on Mandriva Linux Free, using the installer file, the installation fails:

Since "seamonkey-installer" will not directly run from within the file browser, it muat be launched from a command line using:

./seamonkey-installer

After this command, the following error is displayed:

./seamonkey-installer-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.



Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Attempt to install SeaMonkey in Mandriva Linux Free.
2.Install fails:  libstdc++.so.5 (no such file or directory)
3.

Actual Results:  
SeaMonkey did not install.

Expected Results:  
SeaMonkey should have installed, but why is this file missing?  The same file will install fine with SUSE Linux.


Operating System is Mandriva Linux Free 2006.

Same error displayed whether I tried to install as a regular user, or as root.  As with SUSE Linux, I want to install this to my home directory.

This required the installation of libstdc++ packages, once installed, the SeaMonkey installer successfully installed the suite.

There was no bug, so there could have been no fix.

Mandriva ships with a newer libstdc++ version. You might check on getting Mandriva to automatically include the mozilla.org build required older libstdc++ version as a compat lib like some other distros do. It annoys me when I forget to add this lib after a fresh Mandriva install and SM won't start.

I installed the libstdc++ packages that came with the CD set.  Upon completing the installation of Mandriva, there were not any updates to those packages available.  But SeaMonkey is now installing and running fine.
