Many of the issues our users are facing today (lost bookmarks, corrupt RDF files, duplicate profiles, firewall issues after an update, etc.) are things that are quite easy to fix, but aren't exactly intuitive to the novice user. After going though a bit of the uninstall survey data, it seems that the vast majority of users uninstalling Firefox are getting hit by these issues. These are hundreds of uninstalls that we could be avoiding! :)

Taking a chapter from Office 2007's book, I think a lightweight standalone app is the best way to go here. I currently have a semi-functional POC built on XULRunner and should have a preview-worthy version ready within the next week or two.
