Errors that can help search plugin authors figure out why their plugins don't load should be sent to the Error Console - currently detailed errors are only logged if the browser.search.log pref is set, and many of those aren't really relevant to plugin authors.

BTW, I just used this bug report to fix a problem with a search plugin I had modified (forgot to escape an &), so I think "browser.search.log" is very useful (case study size = 1). Not sure what else is needed here...

With recent changes in search service logging, we should be logging errors to the console all the time. Additionally I've just had a look at a couple of the tests and they seem to be logging failures to the console when needed.
