since my camera (popular olympus model) stores the image names in all upper case letters i believe thunderbird should handle all case extensions.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compose a new email, go to the content part of the e-mail
2. Insert > Image > Choose file
3. Browse to a location with image file with upper case extension
Actual Results:  
We don't see the image files with upper case extension.
It looks like the "Image Files" filter in the file dialog only filters out image files with lower case extensions.
As a workaround the "All files" filter has to be selected.

Expected Results:  
See the image files from my camera which have uppercase filenames.

I got this bug too. If I select All files then the image is shown and I can insert it into the mail.
Thunderbird version 1.5.0.5 (20060719) on gentoo linux.

1.5.0.x is no longer supported.

Reporters, does this still occur with the latest Thunderbird 2.0.0.x or trunk nightlies?

I've got 2.0.0.14 (20080505) and it's still the same. Don't know how to compile/upgrade to svn...

Sorry for double posting, but it's still an issue on 3.0a2 (2008072418) as well.
