So many of these bugs don't depend on Vista support. Bug 231904 - SFU (Service for UNIX) support for example has been around for many years. I'm not removing them but I must say it makes it difficult to find the bugs that are required.

bug 361848 should be added on the list

I installed Vista Enterprise a couple of weeks ago. I have narrowed down 2 problems with Thunderbird (1.5.08).

1) ldap directory server searching is broken. When enabled, and when I attempt in-line autocomplete, it causes the entire application to become unresponsive for a couple of minutes. No results are ever returned.

2) Thunderbird is unable to recognize that it is the default mail application, even though Windows does. I also see my Oracle Calendar Client have the same problem, so something definitely changed with Vista.

I installed Firefox 2.0.0.1 on Vista RC2 and the system keeps hanging after few minutes of usage. The system freezes and I will not be able to event cntr-atl-delete to reboot. I always have to hard boot.

I cant seem to find a pattern for this issue?... Is this a known issue or?

Thanks

I am too having this problem after just installing Vista. With me it sometimes happens to where I have to hard reboot, however sometimes I can get into the task manager, but it will not let me kill the firefox process and will completely freeze up the system.

if still having problems, start a new bug - this is a support tracking bug only.
I am also experiencing the issue where Thunderbird is unable to recognize that it already IS the default mail application, and keeps on asking me to make it the default app everytime I start it.

This bug is for Firefox... see Bug 354896
i'm not having any of these problems, but when i open firefox the screen "jumps" up and down a lil, but it didn't do this on my computer before i had vista, any else had this problem?
Are you talking about the window? or are you talking about the toolbar and such?
the window, the toolbar stays stationary but everything under it "shakes" and it's quite annoying
While some applications recognize Firefox 2.0.0.2 as my default browser, some legacy applications still (most unfortunately) ALWAYS launch Internet Explorer 7. (For example: AOL Instant Messenger 5.5.3583 (which I believe uses shellex to launch a URL) and Adobe Acrobat Reader 7. I've also set my file associations for HTTP, HTTPS, .url, .HTML, etc. Some applications that DO launch Firefox as my system default browser are Vista itself (via Start - Run), OpenOffice 2.1, and EditPlus 2.

A workaround for misbehaving apps will be added in bug 369703.

I was having the same problem. I read that you cannot have firefox set as your homepage so I changed it and the screen stopped jumping. Good luck!

I had this exact same problem, check out: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Window_shakes

in my case I had no bookmarks on the toolbar, so I added one and it worked. I also tested it by hiding the bookmarks toolbar while it was empty and that also solved it. Hope this helps.

thank u so much this fixed my problem
I have Windows Vista Home Premium, and most of the time when I'm browsing on FireFox, my screen begins to unexpectedly shake. Everything within the browser begins to bounce up and down rapidly, and then after a couple of seconds or so it'll stop and continue again. I haven't had this problem with any other browser, if there is any way to fix it, please do let me know, I'd appreciate it!

Bug 354896 is reported as fixed. Does that mean that there are no plans for Thunderbird support as the default LDAP protocol (Contacts) handler?
Malcolm - you should ask mscott in bug 354896 since he probably won't see it here, etc.

Version should be changed to Trunk.
we needs "vista support" on branch as well. :)

Very true, maybe it should be changed to 'unspecified' to cover both. :)

I have windows vista and for the first couple of days my firefox worked but then one day it just wouldnt open and a pop up comes up when i click the icon that says that firefox is already running and that i need to either close the existing application or restart. However, there is no firefox open on my computer i have checked the task manager and i have restarted the computer and it still doesnt work. I have even deleted firefox completely from my computer and then redownloaded it and that doesnt even work. Does anyone know a way i can fix this problem? Thanks in advance.
Have a look at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+will+not+start if you have any questions or the steps don't work try posting at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Support+Website+Forums. Bugzilla is not the correct place for this sort of help.
