It would add convenience if the File/Save dialog box remembered its size between sessions.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Save a message as a file, while resizing the File/Save dialog box
2. Quit and restart Thunderbird
3. Save a message as a file; note the size of the File/Save dialog box

Actual Results:
The File/Save dialog box has reverted to its default size and position, even though it remembers what directory it was in during the last session.

Expected Results:
It would be nice if the File/Save dialog box remembered its size between sessions.

In an odd twist, Microsoft Outlook remembers the size of the File/Save dialog box between sessions, but forgets what directory it was in.

Confirmed also here on

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1pre) Gecko/20090710 Lightning/1.0pre Shredder/3.0b3pre ID:20090710031855

but I think it is WONTFIX.

Lucius this work now with

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091203 Lightning/1.0b1pre Shredder/3.0.1pre ID:20091203032015

Can you confirm with lastet TB 3.0 rc2

...probably "Save As" behavior depends from OS and not is related to TB: here on Windows 7 work as you want, in the past when I have tested in Windows XP not working: I don't think that between 3.0pre and 3.0.1pre code related to this has changed... then this bug could be closed also as Invalid (not Tb related issue).
Tried it in Windows XP -- still has old behavior.

Some other programs (for instance Microsoft Outlook) remember their File/Save dialog box size/shape on Windows XP (but then Outlook forgets what directory it was in).
It would be good to know if this is a thunderbird issue or a more global toolkit issue. i.e. does this happen on firefox? just to get a sense of how difficult this would be to fix.
Now that you mention it, Firefox has the same behavior as Thunderbird 3.0 RC2.

howdy y'all,

this does NOT happen to me with ff6 or tb6 on win7. the file save dialogs remember position and size.

the only complaint i have about them is the nasty habit they have of opening in the program files structure or other nearly random folders instead of defaulting to the documents or the download folders. that is not the point of this bug, tho. plus, it happens with many apps in win7. [*grin*]

so this looks to me like it otta be closed as "works for me".

take care,
lee
Definitely still happens with both Firefox 6 and Thunderbird on Windows XP SP3.

The issue of opening in the Program Files folder or something like that is caused by the folder they were in in the last session no longer existing. (In contrast, Microsoft Outlook remembers the File/Save dialog size between sessions, but always resets the folder it is in at the start of a session, even if the folder it was in for the previous session still exists. It would be nice to be able to recombine the behaviors of the Mozilla and Microsoft software to get the best of both.)
