When I open http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/safebrowsing/phish-o-rama.html, the search engine icon disappears, steve and cf were able to reproduce this on windows branch & trunk builds too. Note the icon is back only once an engine is selected again (i.e. it doesn't re-appear when the phishing protection UI is closed).

Is this OS specific or is this a regression from beta 2?  I'm not able to reproduce it yet on linux branch cvs build.

Mano was seeing this on Mac, and I see it on Windows. It only happens the first time the safe browsing alert is displayed in a given window.

I can't reproduce this with the latest nightly on either Mac or Windows, neither with an existing nor a clean profile. Are you guys seeing stable and reproducable STR?

And Gavin, what do you mean by "the first time"? Is that first time per profile? Per session?

"the first time the safe browsing alert is displayed in a given window", in a given session. This isn't consistently reproducible - I could reproduce it easily last night, but can't this morning. I'm also pretty sure I've seen the search engine icon disappear without the safe browsing alert appearing. This seems to me like a core drawing/layout issue, and not something related specifically to search.

not going to block on this at this time.  I can't reproduce this (classic maybe?) but it seems to be a generic layout issue, not something we can fix, or even hack around without understanding why it happens.
