In Firefox 2.0 on win xp, with bookmarks displayed in side panel, clicking on a bookmark has no effect. Right clicking on the bookmark and selecting "open link in new tab" also does not work.

Reproducible: Always

this works for me.   Do you have any extensions installed? try running in safemode: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
