Details
Seen while testing software update. Currently I am unable to update to the 1508 candidate build on the releasetest channel. Note this works fine for Firefox. STR: 1. Grab a Tbird 1507 build and change the channel pref to "releasetest." 2. Check for updates. It finds the update. Restart Tbird. Result: The update never applies.

I see the same thing while testing the 1509->1510 jumps. The only way I can get the update to apply is if I run as Administrator.
Am running Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 on Windows Vista. Automatic update keeps telling me that 1.5.0.10 is available. I say okay, it downloads and tells me that it was successfully downloaded and verified, and that I must close and restart Thunderbird to install it. I close and restart Thunderbird, but it's still 1.5.0.9. This happens every time, whether the initiative comes from automatic update or manual update.

Lew: If you run Thunderbird as administrator, can you get the update to apply? Would recommend moving to Thunderbird 2 when it ships, as it will have better support on Vista than the 1.5.0.x branch. Marcia -- Thanks for the suggestion. It worked, updating me from 1.5.0.9 to 1.5.0.10. Since I have an administrator account (I'm the only user), I thought that running a program normally with my administrator account is the same as running a program as administrator. Apparently, it isn't.

Should this be marked WFM then?

WFM seems reasonable
