User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1

In the left panel, where all the folders exist, the Inbox folder usually reads: INBOX (229). 229, being the number of unread emails. In my thunderbird, the number within the brackets is rapidly increasing higher and higher, yet, no new emails are actually downloaded in the folder. This is causing freezing when I'm going from folder to folder. If I leave the Inbox and come back to it, it will reset to the number of Correct unread emails, and then starts rising again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Restart Computer
2. Restart Thunderbird
3. Switch from and to other folders

Reporter, does this still occur in the latest Thunderbird 2.0.0.18 / Thunderbird 3 Beta 1?

(1.5.0.x is now end-of-life)

Also, does it occur only for POP or IMAP, or both?

Do you still see this with a recent trunk build? If so, please reopen.
