The title says it all but I have a workaround for this one. I have an ASUS K8N-DL motherboard which supports dual processors with dual cores. There is a feature in the boot rom called Memory Hole Remapping. I've had a lot of trouble with this feature. It comes defaulted on but the system is generally less stable with it on. No application I'm aware of does what firefox does though. With Memory Hole Remapping switched on (default) firefox infinite loops. The loop is so tight I can't even kill it with the task manager. I have to reboot and shutting down takes forever. I now have a good reason to leave it off.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.switch on memory hole remapping feature in the boot rom
2.let the system boot up. launch firefix. I had Yahoo calendar as the default site.
3.observe super tight loop. One of my processsors competely tied up.

Actual Results:
The loop is so tight I can't even kill it with the task manager.

Expected Results:
normal display of site with no hour glass.

normal display of site with no hour glass. Default theme. Switch the feature off and bug goes away every time.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

Most of this behavior went away after I reinstalled the entire OS. However, another related very persistent issue, a crash on launch problem I was having continued until just this latest release. I still get loop hangs once in a while that task manager can deal with but I'm blaming the sites, not Mozilla. In particular, junk pop up adware from doubleclick.com causes looping at times. Popup blocker stops the the pop ups and the hangs go away. Imagine that! :) I get these a lot when I visit www.foxnews.com. Its so bad I run a scrubber after I leave that site to remove the tracking cookies. We need a tracking cookie blocker.

Can't read the newspaper without throwing away the junk pages. Somethings don't change.

Please close this one. I'll open another if needed.

BTW I think Mozilla is amazing. I hate to complain about anything. Thank you thank you for all the hard work. I'm sure much of the general public doesn't fully appreciate this product but speaking as a software person, I certainly do.
