(This is a dupe of the second comment of http://wiki.mozilla.org/Bugzilla:Bug_Layout_Revision#gerv ...) See URL: It's really, really hard to tell at a glance that there's indeed an alias set. The linked bug currently has -- and parentheses in its summary, so it makes the () &emdash; combination not obvious as a delimiter. Suggestion is to make the alias be in italics or something so at least it's in a different font variant. Steps to reproduce: view bug 214476 (bug SGMLComment) Actual results: see a long summary and not easily notice the fact that there is an alias set Expected results: instantly (or at least trivially) be able to see the alias

Rearranging this component to not have me as the default assignee, so that it doesn't appear like I'm intending to work on bugs that other people could be taking care of if they didn't think I was already doing them. If this bug is a software issue on b.m.o and you'd like to fix it, the modified source is now available for the patching (see bug 373688). Reassigning to the new default owner.

This problem just bit bug 837963. As comment 0 notes, the bug title line is of the following format: "Bug XXXXXX - (foobar) The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" However, this is ambiguous between a bug with an alias "foobar" and a summary "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" and a bug with no alias and a summary "(foobar) The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog". I think the difference can be made clear simply by moving the alias to the left side of the dash: "Bug XXXXXX (foobar) - The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" That way it is clear that the alias is not part of the summary, as there is no way to spoof something on the left side of the dash.
Summary: Bug alias appears like it's part of the summary; it needs to be more distinctive → Make it obvious that the bug alias is not part of the bug summary

Comment on attachment 801680 [details] [diff] [review] Patch-v1 When you click "edit", the alias remains visible. You only need to move the dash, nothing more.
