version 2 beta 2 (20070116)

I added an IMAP account, and was confused as to why deleting a message only placed a grey deleted icon (circle with a / through it) next to to the subject. After poking around in the account settings, I see that the default action for "when I delete a message" defaults to "Mark it as deleted".

It seems to me that "Move it to the Trash folder" should be the default, since that's what delete does in just about every other context. (eg, various webmail providers, deleting a file in a GUI).
Ugh, the default is supposed to be move to trash. Are there any errors on the error console when you setup the new imap account?
Using version 2 beta 2 (20070116) on the Mac, when I create a new imap account, and then go to the Server Settings panel for the newly created account in the account manager I see:

When I delete a message: [Move it to the Trash Folder]

This was for a standard imap server.

I then tested the new .mac account type and it was also created correctly wit hthe right setting.

Justin, is there any chance that you changed this setting after you created the account by accident? Also, if you create a new account again (same profile, just fill in some dummy imap values), do you see the same behavior? If so, do you see any errors in the javascript console?

Thanks for helping us try to track this down!
I also noticed, after changing the pref to Move-to-Trash, that TB didn't create a Trash folder. When I deleted a message it was removed from the Inbox view, but there was no Trash folder in the tree. The Trash folder was visible after restarting TB, though.

I can try this again with my server and a new profile to see if I can duplicate it.
justin, any new info?

Summary: Confusing default action for deleting a message. → "Move it to the Trash folder" is not default action after creating imap account
I don't have time to investigate this right now, but seeing at TB2 made it out the door successfully it was most likely just something quirky with my profile or mail service.
