Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.13) Gecko/20060414 Build Identifier: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=seamonkey-1.1&os=win&lang=en-US Applies to Windows 2000 and Windows XP (at least). No problem seen on same two systems with earlier versions of Mozilla or SeaMonkey. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install SeaMonkey 1.1 2. Launch MailNews 3. Answer yes to set as default mail application 4. Close application 5. Go to step 2 Actual Results: Asks same question at 3. Expected Results: Remembers first answer. Same results obtained by checking box under Mail & Newsgroups Preferences: check-mark does not persist. Feel free to change the Build Identifier. I'm submitting this from a different browser.

So ignore the User-Agent above. Incidentally, the default application setting for the browser (as opposed to the mail client) DOES persist.

I think I misremembered, and this doesn't apply to Windows XP, only Windows 2000. OS changed. The Build Identifier was probably Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2pre) Gecko/20070111 SeaMonkey/1.1
OS: Windows XP → Windows 2000

No, that's not right either. Perhaps Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2pre) Gecko/20070111 SeaMonkey/1.1 Sigh. If I get time I'll reinstall it and tell you the facts instead of trying to guess what they were...

The Build Identifier in comment #3 is correct.

Setting SeaMonkey 1.1.9 as default-Mail-Application will work on Windows 2000 and WinXP for me, so I close this as worksforme now. Note, you must run SeaMonkey at least one time with an Admin-Account to set SM as Default-Mail-App persistant.
