For troubleshooting emails the simple Eudora option of the "BLAH BLAH BLAH" button on each message window is brilliant.

This button displays the full headers of emails that can be invaluable when trying to manually track spam or determine someone's email client amongst a heap of other uses.

No email application that I am aware of makes the simple task of viewing email headers as easy as the BLAH BLAH BLAH button. Programs like Outlook take this functionality and hide it several unusable steps away.

Please maintain this functionality in Penelope.

Thunderbird (Penelope) allows you to click the triangle next to the Subject field in a previewed message to show all the headers. Is this equivalent to what you want?

If you mean the crosshair (on Windows) that displays the Subject/From/Date/To fields on individual rows when expanded and a single row when 'closed' then no. 

I am talking about an individual button that would perform the same functionality as the current Thunderbird View -> Headers -> All does.

However this button would sit at the top of every email tab/window. 

Whether this should apply to the preview section is irrelevant to me as I I don't use preview mode.

Ahh, I see what you are saying. I've always had View -> Headers -> All selected, so clicking the 'crosshair' was in effect the same as BLAH BLAH BLAH for me.

There's a deeper issue here than headers. 
TBird always cooks the view of mail, and the only way to get the real raw message text is "View:Message Source", which opens a no-function window with the uninterpreted message text, including headers.  This is especially useful with imported messages, since the importer invents Content-Type headers for sent messages that may be inappropriate and cause strange layout. In ongoing use it also is helpful for people who do more than "just hit delete" with spam. 

I guess my abbreviated point is this: the Classic Eudora "BLAH BLAH BLAH" button functionality should be ported to Penelope as a widget that changes the whole message window to display the raw uninterpreted text, not just expose a few more headers.

I the "BLAH BLAH BLAH" view has always been very helpful in the spam and phishing attacks one gets for the orgs I forward the messages onto. Unlike Outoo, Eudora can always provide a serious amount of source info. I mean, it is kusta  parsing of RFC 422, no? The information is there. Please publish it.

I belive the headers-pane of thunderbird message view has always been flawed as it does not allow scrolling. The Thunderbird View -> Headers -> All often takes up more vertical space than availible. The same applies when a message have a large number of recipients and the TO or CC-field is expanded. 

(This was one of my biggest usability pains when switching eudora->thunderbird some years ago.)

I heartily concur with Mr. Cole's comments, in that, I find the "View:Message Source" *very* helpful in screening spam and possible phishing mail.  I believe that the "BLAH BLAH BLAH" button should be reinstated with "View:Message Source" functionality, or, at least with "View>Headers>All"

Enhancement request:

Have the "BLAH BLAH BLAH" button reveal the headers, and 
have (shift) "BLAH BLAH BLAH" configured to reveal source.
That way everybody is happy.

I find looking at the source handy to see what server the 
1-pixel graphics are point to, then use a filter set to 
"anywhere" and teh server name to route spam to Junk.

What I'd really like is a feature targeted at tiny graphics 
(n-pixel) that would cause their triggers to never be 
activated.  And I say n-pixel since I have seen recently 
a number of spams coming in that are two or three pixels.

I use the "BLAH BLAH BLAH" button all the time, for the reasons noted in comment #'s 6 and 8.  I also find it useful for extracting URLs from messages where the "active" point of one URL overlaps that of another (I don't automatically download images).  The nice thing about the button being in the message window is that it doesn't require a trip to a menu/submenu, and can be applied (and de-applied) to the specific message.

For those with initiative, this bug is fixed in the Penelope hg source code depot: <http://hg.mozilla.org/penelope/rev/a0617acb134b>.

Otherwise you'll have to wait until the next release, Eudora 8.0 beta 9/Penelope 1.0 beta 1.

With this fix the "Blah Blah Blah" button can be added to the mailbox and/or message toolbars, and is the equivalent of View->Message Source, i.e. it opens up a separate window with the raw source of the message.

It'd be nicer if the button would display/un-display in the same pane/tab/window like "classic", particularly if/when "Pencil Edit" is implemented -- "View->Message Source" is an uneditable window..
