Details

Due to an accidential repack of a nightly for certain locales, beta2 users of those locales will not be offered updates to Thunderbird 2.

The 2.0b2 mac builds for locales hu -> zh-CN (excluding en-US) are affected. This includes the following list of locales:

it
ja win32 linux
ja-JP-mac osx osxppc
ko
lt
mk
nb-NO
nl
nn-NO
pa-IN
pl
pt-BR
pt-PT
ru
sk
sl
sv-SE
tr
zh-CN
zh-TW
CCing the respective mail owners.

To the localizers, we're not going to fix this bug, Scott checked the active users affected by it, and it should be minimal.

Could you please reach out to your community and tell the beta testers in your languages to manually download a Thunderbird 2 release and install it? That should get folks all set up, including update channel and branding and all.

For reference, fixing this bug would include setting up server side hacks on the update server to serve full updates to the affected users of this particular nightly on this set of languages, and is going to be a significant amount of work.
What happened was, during the repacking of the l10n release, the tinderbox overwrote the release build with a nightly. I understand that the build team has changed the scripts to prevent that from happening in the future.

Thanks.

FYI, there are between 10 and 20 users out in the wild that are still using one of these bad builds on the Mac.
