User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0
Build Identifier: 2.0.0.0 (20070326)

I just installed 2.0.0.0 on Fedora Core 2. When I start up Thunderbird, there is an extra grayed pane that covers the complete width of the bottom of the screen. It has a constant height regardless of how I resize the window. This extra pane is present regardless of the view layout I choose and it doesn't appear to remove any information from the other panes. There is text in red in the center of the pane that cannot be highlighted but reads: <menu id="offlineMenuItem" insertafter="trashMenuSeparator" label="&offlineMenu.label;" accesskey="&offlineMenu.accesskey;"> on one line and then ----^ on a second line. The font is also larger than the font used in the other panes. This never occurred in previous versions of Thunderbird on my Linux machine and does not occur on my Mac with 2.0.0.0.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Thunderbird
2. Observe extra toolbar at bottom

Default theme.
Weird... usually these errors happen due to extensions messing things up. Do you have any extensions installed? If so, can you try running in safe mode [1] and see if this goes away?

I am having this same issue running on SuSE 10.2. I tried starting Thunderbird in safe mode and the same pane appears.

Does this still occur with Thunderbird 3 Beta 2? http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/3.0b2/

I don't think this will be fixed on Thunderbird 2.0.0.x where only security and stability updates are accepted.
