When you try to use the search box to download the OpenSearch plugin for MDC, you get an alert that says:

Firefox could not download the search plugin from: http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/opensearch_desc.php

This should work.
OK, the file exists, but you get a 404 when you try to download it.  Is there a server or MediaWiki configuration issue that's causing this file to be looked for in the wrong place?

Sancus says this looks like a rewrite rule problem:

sancus: did you make a bug for the rewrite rule fix?
sancus: looking at giles' config, I'm 99.99% sure that that's the problem
sancus: since there's a rewrite rule in here for excepting mediawiki php files from the rewrite
sancus: only that php file isn't included in it
Works now.
