I loose my homepage and it adds a toolbar I don't want. When I uncheck the box on the toolbar to make it go away and change my homepage back to what I want the next time I open the browser it reinstalls the Google toolbar and makes it my homepage again.

AAAARRRGGGHHH!

Firefox doesn't come with Google Toolbar when you download it from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ so there is possibly something wrong with the extension. When you delete the extension in the extensions folder in your profile folder it should be gone forever. The GUID of the official Google Toolbar begins with something like {3112ca9c.....}.
You could also simply create a new profile:

reporter: do you still have the issue with a new profile?
