User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 Every time I go to Downloads in the Tools section and try to open a PDF file, Firefox opens and blank tabs begin to appear. The process appears to be continuous, only stopping when Firefox is shut down with Ctrl + Alt + Del or by stopping the tabs from loading with the red X next to the Refresh button. I had no rpoblems opening PDF files before my dad updated Firefox (I'm not sure with what, but it's been a few weeks). This is his computer so I'm sorry that I can't provide more detailed information. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download PDF file 2. Click to open Actual Results: Opens multiple blank tabs in an unending process. Last count was over 400 before I managed to close Firefox. If Firefox is already open when opening the PDF, it simply adds the tabs to it. Expected Results: The PDF file should have opened like normal.

This sounds like an instance of bug 218257 / bug 167320. Have you told Firefox to Open PDFs in Firefox?

In the latest available Acrobat Reader (version 8.0.0, date 2006-10-23; visit http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows.html#Acrobat to get version 8 or higher), there is an importantissimo setting that prevents this problem: In Acrobat Reader 8.0.0: Edit/Preferences...Ctrl+K/Internet/Web browser options/View in the Browser On a local .pdf file, I tried "Open with..."-> Firefox and Firefox 2.0.0.4 started and loaded the local .pdf. Everything went as expected. No problem. No surprise. XP SP2 here.

=> Incomplete. Did not hear back from the reporter if Firefox was configured to open pdfs.
