After an HTML <SELECT> list (like one at the URL given above) is dropped, you
should still be able to use shortcuts and accelerators, as you can in IE. As
an example, while a list is dropped, you should be able to do alt+F to open the
file menu (this should also close the list)

This bug has been marked "future" because the original netscape engineer working
on this is over-burdened. If you feel this is an error, that you or another
known resource will be working on this bug,or if it blocks your work in some way
-- please attach your concern to the bug for reconsideration.

Does this bug still exist? Worksforme Linux mozilla 2000-12-28-08.

Using Netscape 6 on NT keyboard modifiers do work.

However, the second part of this bug still exists - the select list is not
closed when you hit Alt+f (for example). In fact, you can even switch to another
window and the select list stays on top of that window as well! It is kinda hard
to get out of that list (switch back to original page, click on the select box
down arrow).

Using IE5, I see Alt+f closes the list but it still is in the "focus list": if I
hit Esc a couple of times so I can get out of the menus the arrow keys scroll
the values of the select list. This is good. I can also TAB out of the select
list to other controls on the page.

I am changing the summary to reflect this. I am also sending this over to HTML
Form Controls to have a look - pass it back if you think this is none of your
business...

Summary: Keyboard modifiers should be recognized when list is dropped → Using keyboard modifiers should close select list
Yes, it is as simple as closing the dropdown when it loses focus. I think this
may be fixed or is a dup
