Build Identifier: Version 2.0.0.4 (20070604)

I've received an email with a HTML File as attachment.

I wanted to print the email, but thunderbird printed everything - including the attachment.

If i'd wanted to print the attachment, i'd open it and printed it.

I want to print only the actual email and not any attachments.

IMO there should be an option in the print dialog that allows me to choose if i want to print everything, or just the email.

If you disable View > Display Attachments Inline you should only get the list of attachments, not the attachments themselves. Does that work for you?

Yes, thats a work-around.

But an option in the print panel would still be nice

Work round is OK.

An option in Tools > Options not to print attachments would be very useful and also a more intuitive place for it, alternatively add a tab to the Page Setup dialog box.

View > Display Attachments Inline implies that it is a VIEW option, not a print option. Not very intuitive.

This looks like a valid request for enhancement --> confirming.

Viewing and Printing are different actions, and the user should have a separate choice over including attachments for each of them.

Use case:
- user wants to /view/ as much of the mail information as possible on screen (including images and attached html files etc.)
- but user does /not/ want to /print/ attached files with the message (e.g. as they are saved and handled from elsewhere in his file system).

We already support a very similar use case with the "Print background" option option in File > Page Setup > Format & Options > -Format- Section.
From an UI pov, we could simply add the new option right below that:
[ ] Print background (colors & images)
[ ] Print inline attachments

I imagine that we could then programmatically skip inline attachments in much the same way that we now skip backgrounds?

I've slightly morphed original request, which wants an option inside /print/ dialogue. Having this option in /page setup/ is the route of least resistance and least changes to current UI, thus better chances of implementation.

Furthermore (beyond this bug), it would be nice to provide access to page setup functionality from the actual File > Print dialogue.
