When I have bookmarks whose names start with articles - a, an, and the in English - I'd prefer to have them sorted as though the article was not there. For example, a bookmark named "The Joy of XUL" should sort with the Js and not with the Ts.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Sort bookmarks
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Bookmarks beginning with the English articles "a", "an", and "the" are sorted on the article.

Expected Results:
Bookmarks beginning with the English articles "a", "an", and "the" are sorted ignoring the article, if I desire.

Each language would need its own set of sort words to ignore. In addition, individual users might want their own custom words to ignore. You might set a new user preference for custom sort words to ignore.

Another option, though this might be overkill, would be to have a property for each bookmark to indicate whether if should follow the sort rules.

For example, the Preferences for this might look something like this.
 --
|__| Ignore the following initial words when sorting bookmarks
     --------------------------------------------------------
     | a,and,the |
     --------------------------------------------------------

The properties for individual bookmarks might include
 --
|__| Do not ignore initial word when sorting bookmarks

I'm not sure that the per-bookmark property would be necessary, and I doubt that I'd use it. I would like to be able to sort bookmarks with initial words such as articles ignored though.
No real action ever (in almost a year). I doubt the feasibility of this RFE.

Me too. Sounds like an idea for an extension (add-on), if at all.
