Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.6 (20070728)

The first time I opened Thunderbird, about 40 emails from Dec and Jan were visible. I deleted these and shut Thunderbird down. Opening it again, I now had about 20 different 'older' emails from Dec and Jan. Can't quite understand why these would be present. They are not there on the verizon server.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
1.See old emails when first opening app.
2.Select all old emails and delete them. Exit app and reopen.
3. Still some old emails present that are different than those deleted.
4. Deleted these and exited the app.
5. The next opening did not show old emails. They are all current.

I had Outlook Express as my first mail handler with no issues. Does it import any settings from that? But even Outlook had messages this old deleted long, long ago. The third time shows no old messages, just current ones.

Have you tried File > Compact Folders ? That will remove old mail that is "marked as deleted".
