For HTTP URLs, you can do a Copy Link Location in a page, paste it into a URL
bar and you are away. However, if you try this for mailto: URLs, and paste them
into a Compose window or Address Book window, it doesn't cunningly remove the
mailto: to make the address valid.

This would be a really neat thing to have work :-)

yes this would be cool.

mscott - is this simple enough to do before FCS? As you said, it would be cool.

Gerv
See also bug 32358, which includes replacing "copy link location" with
"copy e-mail address" on the context menu for mailto links.
I'll do bug 32358 instead - it's easier :-)

I don't think this is really a duplicate, although fixing the other bug might
help most people in this situation. The reason why is that fixing the PASTE
behavior is different than fixing the CUT behavior in some situations.

For example, I might have a mailto: URL in the clipboard from notebook or some
other text editor.
It's not an exact dupe; but if you are copying out of anywhere else, you have
the choice of selecting the right bit :-) In a browser, that's not possible,
because the text is behind the link.

If you want to implement this half, feel free :-)

Gerv
Mark it verified/dup.
