399898 - for pre-beta users, Tags under "Most Used Tags" in Places folder on toolbar only shows favicons for sites under tags

Within the new Places folder on the bookmarks toolbar, there is a "Most Used Tags" container. Under this, your most used tags will appear and you can see the bookmarks associated with these tags as the menus are expanded out.

Right now, when the final bookmarks are shown, the titles are not displayed, only the favicons. The links work but you won't know what you are selecting. See attached screenshot.

This was seen on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a9pre) Gecko/2007101504 Minefield/3.0a9pre but I saw it in yesterday's build, as well.

al, are these pages you tagged previously, with a build before the fix for bug #387996?

If so, buried deep in bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387996#c48

"note, any uris tagged before this change to the tagging service will show up
without titles under "Most Used Tags" and "Most Recently Used Tags" because
their titles are "" and not null, and I've removed the NULLIF."

Can you confirm if that is what you are seeing by tagging another page not previously tagged or by creating a new tag?

Yes, that's the case. I made a new tag on a bookmark as well and that one works fine. I hadn't seen the buried note.

So, known issue.

We could migrate old data (convert "" to null for items under the tag root), but not a blocker.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
