A yellow banner appears at the top of the screen every time a plugin is not present for the page visited. There is no way to turn off this banner.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Visit any page requiring a plugin which is not installed
2.
3.

Expected Results:
The software should display a little icon in the corner like with unwated pop-ups (after turning off that equally intrusive and annoying banner)
Bug 261655 provided a pref that allows you to completely disable it. Bug 268936 is about disabling it for specific plugins. I don't think it's likely that we'll implement a status bar icon like the popup blocked case (in fact I think it's more likely we'll remove the status bar icon notification system entirely). Would you be satisfied if this bug were marked as a duplicate of either of the bugs I mentioned?
