User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/2.0.0.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/2.0.0.9 I upgraded Firefox to version 2.0.0.9 some days ago. The problem is as follows: after the installation surfing was fine, as usual. When surfing was finished, i closed the browser. Several minutes later I restarted the browser, which instantly told me, that Firefox cant find the page, i use to open first (i.e. Google). I tried another page - same response. I have to completely reinstall Firefox and then it works. The problem: when i close the browser and reopen it again the same procedure as descrivebd above happens/is necessary to get the browser to work. As i told: that did not happen until version 2.0.0.8. Can you help - please?! P.S. This does not happen with the Internet Explorer from Microsoft. Regards Andre Ryl Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the browser after a NEW installation 2. Surf through the net and then close the browser 3. Restart the browser and it wont work until you do a complete reinstallation. Expected Results: as described above (since version 2.0.0.9.)

Does it work if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (it temporarily disables add-ons and themes, this test will help us narrow down the cause of the problem) -- See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode

Which kind of third-party Firewall are you using and did you (as I expect if you have connection problems) re-add your Firefox entry in the Firewall configuration ??
Hi mats, if I start Firefox in safe-mode, it still is the same problem. Regards Andre Ryl
Hi Mats, i turned off the vista-firewall. I use G-Data, but this problem has only occured since Firefox 2.0.0.9. regards Andre Ryl

You have only answered 50% of my question...
(I asked if you already removed the firefox entry from your firewall config and added it again)

Andre, does the problem still occur? If so, there are some troubleshooting tips at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls that might help you. Please let us know if that helps.

This bug was originally reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.6 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME http://www.mozilla.com http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+mode
