Using the 0525 nightly on Linux. Fire up mail (new account) and all is well.
Send myself a message (but don't fetch it) and all is well. Now fetch the
message and read it, suddenly CPU usage jumps to (an average) of 35% AND
STAYS THERE as long as I have the message displayed. If I click on some other
empty folder, then CPU usage returns to normal (3-5% for the never-end
"loading" animation in the sidebar (but there's another bug report for that)).
In order to fix the "bookmarks never stop loading in the sidebar" problem, I
blew away my .mozilla directory. Now I have a fresh, clean, installation, I am
not seeing this high CPU usage any more.
I'm wondering if the high CPU usage was due to trying to load your sidebar.
I think the "trying to load the sidebar" overhead was the 3-5% CPU usage I was
seeing.
reassigning to mscott since it seems to be related to message reading.
