In FF3 Beta 2, right-click a bookmark and select "Open in a New tab". Then, while that page is opening, right-click another bookmark. The context menu is always greyed out (inactive) until the previous page loads. This is a new bug to FF3, and did not appear in the latest release of FF2. This is an especially burdensome bug on a laptop where there is no middle mouse button to click on bookmarks.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
See details.

Expected Results:
There's no good reason for the context menu to ever be completely inactive.

Do you mean the Places window or the sidebar?
I tried both a couple of times but couldn't reproduce the issue. In the Places window it was difficult to try for the Places window disappears to the background after opening the bookmark and I have a very fast connection.
Maybe this is caused by an add-on and if not, could you mention some URLs?

The issue occurs in the bookmarks sidebar. I have no plug-ins enabled - none of the ones I use regularly work with the FireFox betas yet. I can reproduce it on two different machines with two different configurations. Here are the steps:

1.) In the bookmarks sidebar, right-click a bookmark link and select "open in new tab"
2.) Immediately after clicking, right click on a different bookmark in the sidebar - the menu is greyed out.

As far as I can tell, the greying out occurs until the first bookmark tab you
opened finishes loading. Then, you are able to right-click another bookmark.

I can confirm.

Confirmed - bug still exists in FF3b4 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b4) Gecko/2008030714 Firefox/3.0b4). Verified on multiple different machines - all running XP SP2.

It seems most prevalent when I'm right-clicking on RSS feed links in the bookmarks sidebar.
Bug still exists in FF3 final (using XP SP2). It doesn't matter how you open the bookmark in a new tab (right-click-context-menu, middle-click, using Tab Mix Plus add-on). In addition, if you load the tab in the background, you have to select the just opened tab before the contect menu appears again.
May this be a duplicate of #438909 ?

Not AFAIK. This bug was filed in December 2007, and Bug 438909 is a regression from a checkin in February 2008.

I could not reproduce this in 3.0.3. Can anyone confirm is this problem has disappeared on its own?
for me this is WFM actually

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
