Do you get this problem if you either: 1. start firefox when logged in as administrator, or 2. right click on the firefox icon and select run as another user (administrator).

I get this problem too. Has been there in beta 3 through 5 at least. Full error message reads - Chrome Registration Error. Firefox could not install this item because of a failure in Chrome Registration. Please contact the author about this problem. Will try running as admin (I'm logged in as one).

Running once as admin solves the problem - the add on checker seems to be causing the fail. Would suggest that the need to run as admin first time out is heavily flagged on download or fixed - makes ff look bad when that error message cycles four or five times every time you it launches.

(Changing component to XPInstall) This message should not actually appear. Do you know what the "this item" is that causes these popups?

I'm still having this problem regardless of whether I launch FF from the quickbar and desktop. It doesn't seem to be damaging in any way, but it is bloody annoying - any progress?

Could you please look in the following directories on your computer and tell me what files are in them: C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\browserrecord C:\ProgramData\Mozilla\Firefox Extensions\{3112ca9c-de6d-4884-a869-9855de68056c} C:\Program Files\Google\Google Photos Screensaver\FF_ext C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Client Security Solution\PWM Firefox Extension

Paul, it appears that you are using a version of Firefox that comes with the Google toolbar and the google toolbar didn't install properly. There are two things you could do: 1. Shut down Firefox and delete all the three extensions.ini, extensions.cache, and extensions.rdf files, then restart Firefox. If this doesn't work. Uninstall this version of Firefox and install the official version from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?from=getfirefox Also these troubleshooting steps might prove helpful: <http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Clean_reinstall>
