To reproduce: 1. Migrate a 4.x profile with an IMAP account using "mozilla -installer". 2. Send a message using the IMAP account. 3. After sending the message, not that the compose window reappears, and after several seconds you'll get an error message that says, "your mail was successfully sent, but there was an error copying your message to the sent mail folder." 4. Inspect your account settings for the profile using the mailnews account manager; not that there is no default value for "where to place sent mail" in the IMAP account. EXPECTED: A reasonable default should be provided (or, if possible, copied from the 4.x profile.)

Marking "nsbeta2", because this will cause a lot of confusion for people who have 4.x IMAP accounts that they'd like to migrate.
Keywords: nsbeta2

I cannot reproduce this- am able to have sent messages saved in my 'sent' folder (which is on IMAP server) I checked mail/account settings/Copies and Folders and it shows Sent mail to be store in Sent on nsmail-2 (as in my 4.x profile) - migrating correctly I did not get the error 'your mail was successfully sent, but there was an error....' Could that be an error somewhere other than migration?

waterson, was you sent folder in 4.x on local mail or on your IMAP account? there were actually three preferences related to this back in 4.x, so it's possible that certain migration paths have regressed

Yes, it was sent to copy my mail to my local "Sent" folder.

added screen shot of strange folder name for Sent (on local, migrated) that is just what is showing in my 6.0 prefs file also user_pref("mail.identity.id2.fcc_folder", "mailbox://nobody@Š—Í`Ç\"Í`'Í`Þ˜Í`\":Í`Þ˜Í`¡‚Í`u‚Í`5@Í`Ú@Í`ÕAÍ`øAÍ`BÍ`K Í`=BÍ` `BÍ`†BÍ`Ô¢Í`ÆBÍ`ìBÍ`CÍ`7CÍ`?™Í`o¦Í`íøÍ`~Ð`eÓÍ`ö9Î`0:Î`q:Î`µ:Î`è:Î`;Î`&Í`Ð` Ð`Ð`Ð`Ð`Ð`Ð`Ð`Ð`/Sent");

that screen shot is scary. I'll investigate why we've regressed. top of my head guess: we now getting "Local Folders" from a string bundle. maybe that is failing, or we are failing to convert it properly.

Seth, On my Linux test- 4.x profile has Sent on Local Mail/IMAP acct- after migration it is set to Sent on nsmail-2. Correct- not migrating 4.x but using a default to IMAP server if IMAP account?

I don't understand your comment. can you clarify?

4.x profile has copies and folder preference set to "Sent on Local Mail"- it is an IMAP account. After migration to 6.0, that account shows copies and folders in account settings as "Sent on nsmail-2" - my IMAP server. Windows migration keeps the "Sent on Local Mail" - Linux migration changes it - as designed? or new bug?
