User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.9 (20071031)

I have configured 2 Gmail a/cs (say a@gmail.com and b@gmail.com) and another corporate a/c (x@mycompany.com) (which uses googlemail). All of them IMAP.

If I send a mail from x@company.com, the To: box shows the correct mail address. But, the recipient gets it from my a@gmail.com

Mails from a@gmail.com and b@gmail.com are sent properly.

Note: I do not remember, which account I added as my first.
Note: This happens irrespective of the default account in Thunderbird.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Add a gmail account with IMAP access
2.Add an account which uses googmail, on IMAP
3.try sending mails from each a/c and check the sender
Actual Results:
Mails sent from x@mycompany.com are marked as sent from a@gmail.com
This doesn't happen when a@gmail.com a/c is deleted.

Expected Results:
Mail sender should have been x@mycompany.com
Version: unspecified → 2.0
Gmail munges the address, at least if the identity isn't set up (and verified) in their account settings. View the source of the sent mail, From: is correct, no?
This is what I got. This mail was sent from x@mycompany.com to a@gmail.com

Return-Path: <a@gmail.com>
Message-ID: <479DAE3F.7010204@mycompany.com>
From: My Name <a@gmail.com>

Each of my 3 accounts have their own identities set up.
Is that the received mail or the one in your Sent folder? And if you set your sent folder to some folder under Local Folders, is the From: the same? Are the identities set up on gmail's side too?

The recipient's copy and a@gmail.com's Sent Items (on server; not locally) has the given records.
However, the local Sent folder for x@mycompany.com has the expected records.
A copy,of the expected records, are NOT present at the expected sender's server end.

>Are the identities set up on gmail's side too?
You mean under Settings>Accounts>Send mail as?
Yes, as follows.
a@gmail.com => VidhyaShankar L
x@mycompany.com => Vidhyashankar Lakshmanan

could that be the problem?
Sorry guys.
I screwed it.
I was using the default outgoing server of gmail (smtp.gmali.com), whereas it should have been smtp.googlemail.com

However, I tried to change the identity at the gmail a/c to "LVS".
Yet, why was it assuming a@gmail.com and not b@gmail.com?
