User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 When I try to manage my bookmarks the browser will close. Therefore, I cannot manage my bookmarks. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click on bookmarks 2.Click on manage bookmarks 3.Browser closes Actual Results: Cannot manage bookmarks. Expected Results: I expect to be able to manage my bookmarks as I have been able to in the past. Let me manage my bookmarks instead of closing the browser. Note, only my home page was open when I clicked on my manage bookmarks.
Does this also happen in safemode and or with a new profile? Have you tried to disable each extension, one by one to see which one may be the culprit?
Can you open your bookmarks.html file and compare it to an earlier version in the bookmarkbackups folder? How large is your bookmarks.html file? Do you use a bookmark managing extension?
I was able to organize my bookmarks until recently. Nothing has changed on my computer that I am aware of. I can open my bookmark backup folder. 1585kb is the size of my html file. I do not us a bookmark managing extension. I have had no reason to try safemode or a new profile. I have not tried to disable each extension, one by one. I cannot get into the manage bookmark area to doing anything as the Firefox closes as soon as I click on manage bookmarks. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it several hours later. And, I still cannot get to manage bookmarks.
Ok, your bookmarks file is HUGE and my have actually gotten corrupted. I'm not sure what the fix is. Bug 310192 describes a MUCH smaller file that already causes problems. Yours is more than three times larger. You may want to consider opening your bookmarks.html up in a new profile and only bookmarking the ones you actually use. Also, Firefox 3 uses a new system for managing bookmarks maybe that will work for you.
After downloading Fire Fox 3.0 and uninstalling 2.0 I cannot go to the Home Depot web site without Fire Fox shutting down. I have tried just googling the web site and then trying to log in. I have tried using my bookmarks and then logging in. The system shuts down every time. I have tried several other bookmarked sites and they all appear to work
Jim Wojo, your issue has nothing at all to do with this bug report. Please file a separate bug for your issue.
