There is no way to combine the "show" options together to get the most of this view. You can just choose ONE of the following views "all", "today", "next seven days" etc.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Expected Results:
the following "show" options should work as follows:
- "all", "today", "next seven days" AND "this month" (new one in my opinion) should be radio buttons. selecting one of these changes the date range of the tasks to display

- "completed tasks" should be a check box. checking that it adds all the completed task in current chosen date range view
- "not started tasks" is somehow redundant after this redesign. The tasks are all upcoming tasks.
- "overdue tasks" should be a check box. checking that adds all the overdue task to the list. for a better overview the "tasks"-View should be split in two tables. "overdue tasks" and "upcoming tasks". this is done when checking the "overdue tasks" checkbox. the upcoming tasks are formatted with all the upper options. the overdue tasks is a plain sortable list.
IMHO this should be solved to be in line with the Today Pane Task list (bug 415548), which has strict design instructions.

I already played around some time, while working on bug 412962. It would be possible to set time filters additionally to "real" filters completed/started/overdue.
