User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008030814 Firefox/3.0b5pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008030814 Firefox/3.0b5pre When printing some pages to a PDF, the layout is completely muddled: in the printed output, text may overlap. (The print preview is fine, and so is the postscript file if printed to .ps.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to the front page of news.bbc.co.uk. 2. Do Ctrl-P for print, select "Print to File" and choose PDF format. 3. Open the PDF file in any viewer. Actual Results: The text and images overlap a lot, everything looks broken. Expected Results: I expect the pdf to look like the ps output. The generated pdf file is also very large. Correct PDF output can be obtained by either (1) selecting "Print to File" --> "Postscript" and then converting to pdf; or setting up a PDF printer with cups-pdf and printing to that. I have build this Firefox 3.0b5pre on my own machine with --enable-system-cairo; I don't know if that is a factor.

The PDF file exhibiting the problem is rather large (unexpectedly so --nearly 2M); so I am attaching a smaller png screenshot of what the displayed PDF file looks like on my screen. Either evince or acroread produce similar results here.
