Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. View a random webpage 2. Choose View => Character Encoding => More Encodings => East European => Baltic (ISO-8859-4), or any other character encoding that is not listed directly in the parent Character Encoding menu 3. Open the View => Character Encoding => More Encodings => East European menu again Actual Results: View => Character Encoding => Unicode (UTF-8) is CHECKED View => Character Encoding => More Encodings => East European => Baltic (ISO-8859-4) is UNCHECKED Expected Results: View => Character Encoding => Unicode (UTF-8) should be UNCHECKED View => Character Encoding => More Encodings => East European => Baltic (ISO-8859-4) should be CHECKED The character encoding in the webpage is switched as expected. It is only the menu item's checked status that is incorrect.

please retest with newer version. Close, or update comment/attach testcase as appropriate to test results. Thanks

Half of this has been fixed: the selected character encoding now appears in the parent menu. But the other half is still broken: the selected character encoding in the inner menu is still not checked.
Summary: "Character Encoding" menu - wrong item checked → "Character Encoding" menu items not checked correctly

Timwi, can you please check again with Firefox 4.0.1 or an Aurora build if this is still an issue?
No, I can’t, because I haven’t upgraded to 4.0 yet and probably won’t be for a while. Why can’t anyone else test it?
Results in Firefox 4.0.1: View => Character Encoding => Unicode (UTF-8) is UNCHECKED [correctly] View => Character Encoding => Baltic (ISO-8859-4) is CHECKED [correctly] View => Character Encoding => More Encodings => East European => Baltic (ISO-8859-4) [wrongly] So half of the problem still remains.
Correction: View => Character Encoding => More Encodings => East European => Baltic (ISO-8859-4) is UNCHECKED [wrongly] Why Bugzilla doesn't allow people to *actually* correct their posts is... sigh...
