I've just upgraded from Firefox 2 to 3beta4 and I love the Back/Forward/V interface. It's a huge improvement over the Back V Forward V interface.

I would find it slightly more intuitive if the dropdown marker were placed between the Back and Forward arrows. If you'll excuse the ascii graphics:

Current:  <-  ->  V
Proposed: <-  V  ->

This makes more sense to me as it is equally a history of back as it is forward and the current placement suggests it is more to do with forward. Also, my primary use for this was to go back a number of pages at once and it would be closer to the position it was in for firefox 2, so it would ease people's upgrade paths.

Thanks!

I agree, it would be more intuitive to have the dropdown between the back and forward buttons.

I'm using FF 3.0b5 on Linux, and the default theme for the Linux install -- "Firefox (default) 2.0 / The default theme"

What I don't like about the new look is that the dropdown arrow is so far removed from the back button, especially since "back" is the more common action. I understand the dropdown arrow being on the side with they "keyhole" buttons on Windows, but since the Linux theme doesn't have this, it's a bit odd - the arrow just sort of sits there on its own quite a distance from the forward button. What would be cool is if the toolbar customization mode each of the back, forward, and dropdown buttons were separately movable so one could set it however one wanted. Currently they all operate as one entity.
