User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032619 Firefox/3.0b5 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.12 (20080213) Office: linux, where I run Thunderbird for work email. Home: another linux machne. If I log into the office machine from home and export my (X) display and start up thunderbird, It doesn't recognize that I am the same person using it from work. It insists that I create a new profile. This makes all my work email inaccessible. This is also counter to who X Window applications should work. Web access to the office email is not possible. I could run a thunderbird client from home and configure pop to leave mail on the server, but this isn't really a workaround, not a solution as it doesn't allow access to previously read mail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. log into office linux from remote linux (using VPN in this case) 2. start thunderbird 3. Can't access email - it wants a new profile Actual Results: This seems to happen in all cases. I can use two machines sitting next to one another in the office and that has the same result. It should use my default profile and just have the window displayed remotely. So that working from home will be identical to to working at work - less the network delays.

Trying to get something straight here: Are you logging into your computer and starting a *second* X session from the remote computer's point of view or are you reconnecting to the same X session?
