I have reports from users that they insist on Firefox 1.0 (yes, not even 1.5) to work on MacOSX and maybe other OSes. This is the main foreign language education software used by the US Army so I guess it should be looked at so that it at least supports 2.0. There's no site as you have to log in via www.us.army.mil and I doubt the government will give us logins.
chofmann, ping?
I'm not sure I understand the question or issue on this one. We would strongly recommend against using 1.0 or 1.5 due to the many security and usability improvements that we have made in firefox 2 and the upcoming firefox 3 release. only a very small pct. of our user base (around 1%) is still running these early versions.

is this a case of trying to evangelize rosetta stone to support recent firefox releases? does anyone have a contact there?

I've bought a couple of rosetta stone versions for portagues and spanish but it's all client based programs. are there web versions?

do we have a list of specific problems where firefox is incompatible with the rosetta stone web content?
I think part of the problem may also be certification requirements by .mil types of the browsers they use.

Who is "they"? Rosetta Stone, or the U.S. military?

bob, could be correct. I don't see anything on the public rossetta stone site that indicates they don't support firefox, and a few kb articles talk about how they actually do support firefox and a variety of browsers. If an orgainization inside the miliarty or rosetta stone have collaborated on a private rosetta stone site we would need to track down the maintainer for that to see what problems might exist or if they have plans for supporting other browsers like rossetta stone does on their public site.

we actually have worked with several .mil organizations to license and allow distribution of firefox to military organizations, so we would need some specific contacts where other organization still see problems with allowing the use of firefox.
To answer questions posted: I have no idea... I couldn't access the site to try for myself or see what error was given. I was simply asked to provide a download link to Firefox 1.0 for the Mac and the reason given was that the Language instruction (Rosetta Stone) use by the US army insisted on it.

Asked by whom? Can you get one of these people to comment here, or explain specifically what they're being told they need to do?
If they need "official" contacts, both chofmann and I can be reached via mozilla.com email addresses. simply replace the domains in our bugzilla emails with mozilla.com.
whom = someone on the LiveChat service, and no we don't collect contact info so I can't get them back, sorry. I figured I'd post here and maybe someone would know someone who can confirm or invalidate it.
