For example "5th" returns a notice that "th" is a misspelled word when spell check is run. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Compose new mail message 2. Include ordinal indicator suffix (-st, -nd, etc) 3. Run spell check Actual Results: Number is ignored by spell check, ordinal indicator flagged as incorrect spelling Expected Results: Thunderbird should ignore ordinal indicator Firefox 3 beta 5 does not flag ordinal indicators as incorrectly spelled words. Problem is specific to Thunderbird.

Haven't checked in on this in a while so can't say when it was fixed, but as of current build this works on Mac OS. Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:17.0) Gecko/20130107 Thunderbird/17.0.2 ID:20130107124236

There is more than one bug report for this. For there are also the following ones (and there may be more):
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=240357
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/aspell-en/+bug/507471
I continue to have the problem, on Thunderbird 68.2.2. The problem grates, makes Thunderbird look bad and, at least if count from its inception, is very, very old.
