Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; ro; rv:1.8.1.15) Gecko/20080612 Firefox/2.0.0.15

Found as a result of a Litmus test run. The test was:

   1. Windows: Go to Tools | Options. (to exit Options, click the OK button)
Mac: Go to FireFox | Preferences. (to exit Preferences, click the red (x) in the upper left.)
Linux: Go to Edit | Preferences. (to exit Preferences, click the Close button)
   2. Go to the Privacy category.
   3. In Private Data, click on the Settings button.
   4. In the dialog, under the "Private Data" section, select some of the items to clear.
   5. Select "Ask me before clearing private data." then click Okay
   6. Exit the Options dialog.
   7. From the menu select Tools | Clear Private Data and check the settings there. They should match what you set in from Options
   8. Click Clear Private Data Now.
After step 8, the items selected for clearing should have been cleared. (you will have to go to the various Options panels to check the items you selected to clear.

The two windows that should have the same options selected work fine, but the translation differs from one to the other. Just to make sure, I checked that in English the wording is the same. I don't see why it should differ for other languages, since it presents the same options (confusing).

You may want to check this for other languages as well.

Suggested: Keep the one under Edit>Preferences (Linux path), I think it has better wording (I'm also a native Romanian ;) )

Hi Paul,

The „Clear Cache” doesn't exist in Firefox, are you talking about „Clear Private Data” ? The „Clear Private Data” text is translated in the same way in 4 occurences ( http://narro.i18n.ro/narro_project_text_list.php?p=2&tf=1&st=1&s=Clear%20Private%20Data ).

Could you please go to http://narro.i18n.ro/narro_project_text_list.php?p=2&tf=1&st=1&s=Clear%20Private%20Data and find the two translations that differ and post the links back here ?

Thank you!

Yes, sorry about that :)... I'm talking about the "Clear Private Data" dialog.

My mistake for not being clear. What I found was that the dialog that opens when you click on "Click private data" (the one showing the 8 checkboxes for History, Sessions, etc) is different on one of the menus (Edit>Preferences) than on the other (Tools-Clear private data). That is, the text differs for some of the options in one dialog compared to the other.

I used that link to search for "Saved form and search history" but only found one translation...
Here are the two places where this differs:
"Saved form and search history"
* On Edit>Preferences>Privacy>Clear private data
* On Tools>Clear private data>Settings (not "Clear now")

Hope this helps. I attached a screenshot of the thing.
Ugh. I mean the other way aroun. Tools->Clear private data VS Edit>Preferences>Clear private data>Settings
Oops!
So the difference is only that in one dialog the words are articulated and in the other not, right ?

This is fixed in Firefox 3, check the screenshot. I'm not sure if we'll see a future version of Firefox 2 so we can fix this in Firefox 2 as well.
Wonderful! Glad it's fixed in FF3. All but the third option are the same except for the articulation, indeed.

The third differs, however, only in FF2 (in 3 your screenshot showed they're the same). IMO, the option in FF3 (and one dialog of FF2) is more precise than the other one in FF2. I suppose they are close enough...
So we can close this, thank you for your report.
