User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.14 (20080421)

I occasionally receive messages with "Content-Type: text/html" which WILL NOT DISPLAY! These contain the lines:
<HTML><HEAD>
<META content="MSHTML 6.00.3790.2858" name=GENERATOR></HEAD>
...apparently Thunderbird can't interpret "MSHTML" content.

I'm getting these from COMCAST and from TCM (Turner Classic Movies).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.attempt to view a message encoded in this manner.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
blank window

Expected Results:
displayed the contents of the message!

Here is a sample of the beginning of such a message:

You can duplicate this by sending a message to mailto:abuse@comcast.net and view the response.
All of your above cited html works fine for me.
Make sure you have View-->Message Body as--set to "original html"
The <META content="MSHTML 6.00.3790.2858" name=GENERATOR> part is just ignored.
If there is additional content that affects the rendering, please include the
full message as an eml file.
That appeared to be the problem.

Prior versions (Netscape) that I was familiar with would display HTML even though set to send text only, and I'd not realized the change.

Will allowing HTML to be viewed affect the sending of text Email?

Will allowing HTML to be viewed affect the forwarding of HTML Email?

John Kopf
The view options affect display only, and are their to give another level of control to the user. (sending formats are controlled elsewhere.
If you need support while you get accustomed to thunderbird, please use the resources at:
news://news.mozilla.org:119/mozilla.support.thunderbird
Or
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=39

There are many experienced users their (mostly ex-netscapers) that would be glad to help.
