The new version of Firefox plays no sound on any website in any format. No add noise; no video sound; no audio sound; nothing. The same sites play sound just fine in IE 7.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any audio video file
2. Click "play" to play the file
3. File plays with no sound
with "any format" you mean which used plugins that are not playing sound ?
Firefox doesn't play sound itself..
Do you mean only that the flash player doesn't play sound ?
Which Version of this plugin are you using. loook in about:plugins to get the plugin version.
I know firefox does not play sound itself. I have no idea what plug-in is being accessed. All I know is that immediately after upgrading to the latest version of firefox - all sound - no matter how that sound is suppose to be created - no longer plays when using firefox. I can have the same web page opened in IE and the sound plays so I know my speakers work.

It can be music on Myspace - a video at Comedy Central - an audio only file at cnn.com - it can even be one of those stupid advertisements that when you mouseover the graphic a sound is played. I get nothing - no sound when browsing in firefox.
If you right click for example on a video, you should be able to see which plugin is used.
We have a few people with such a problem, one solution for them was to install the flash 10 beta, you could try that but it's a beta and some pages will not work with this plugin.

After shutting down the pc (power off) and restarting, the problem seems to have fixed itself. If it happens again, I'll make a note using the info you provided above. Thank you.
marking worksforme in that case.
