449565 - toolbar buttons has no text and longer texts look weird

First, web page rendering works ok.

The problem is the texts on the toolbar or any button is missing.
Also some text in a popup describing plug-in compatibility was weird, I guess
it is a font problem.

(This problem is also reported to Debian BTS #493076.)

This happens only on one machine. The other installations works ok.
I've tried to remove ~/.mozilla completely, no difference.

So I guess it has something to do with fonts, but I
would like some clues on where to search.

Steps to Reproduce:
Start the browser. :-)
Actual Results:  
No text on buttons, not even 'cancel' or 'OK' buttons.

Expected Results:  
Something readable. :-)

Here's my environment:

linux  2.6.25
Debian sid (yes, yes, 'unstable', yes, but my other sid-machines works fine. ;-)

This bug report was sent with a downgraded firefox (2.0.0.14).
I did, however, add the correct 3.0.1 User-Agent above.

This bug was reported using Firefox 3.0 or older, which is no longer supported. The bug has also not been changed in over 500 days and is still in UNCO.
Reporter, please retest this bug in Firefox 3.6.10 or later using a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles. If you still see this problem, please update the bug. If you no longer see the bug, please set the resolution to RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
