Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080702 Firefox/2.0.0.16

OS: Windows Server 2003.
Development environment at a software company.
Using Firefox 2.0.0.16

Average memory footprint is around 1.1 GB. Unbelievably, it was 1.8GB today.
Has any latest patches in this Firefox version caused this high memory usage?
It screws up everything. It mainly occurs when opening new tabs.

Would appreciate if someone could take a look into this issue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use Firefox 2.0.0.16. Open a couple of Firefox windows, and in them 2-3 tabs in each window.
2.Do normal work. In sometime, try opening a new tab.
Actual Results:
Browser hangs.
Look at the memory usage in task manager. Its high enough.

Expected Results:
Memory usage should not be this high!! New tabs can be opened easily, which is one of the most attractive features of Firefox browser
If memory usage is a concern you should be using Firefox 3.

There are a few reasons why this bug is invalid.
We don't accept bugs about "Firefox is using to much memory" or "Firefox is to slow" because we must reproduce this and we need a for example an URL.
You also must make sure that you get this in the Firefox safemode and this is not caused by an addon.

The next thing is that Firefox2.X only gets security fixes in the future, please upgrade to Firefox3.x. Firefox3 got many memory improvements....

OK guys. I will switch to Firefox 3 and update this thread in a few days, if there are any issues.

Thanks.
