467517 - (Measl) mail which is "in the future" (sent with broken clock) is not seen by TB until time message was supposedly sent passes.

Email which made me notice this (visible in Pine at 0400CST) is appended below.  My system is set to CST, and is approx "4 hours behind" in TBs "mind".  This message was not visible at 0400 no matter what I tried.  I ended up forwarding it from pine (I needed to see the MRI attached).

I get mail "from the future" all the time, Thunderbird shouldn't and doesn't seem to care.

What kind of mail server do you use, POP or IMAP?

How do you know you got it and thunderbird wasn't showing it? Was the mail left on the server (IMAP) and Pine was accessing the same account?

You said you eventually forwarded it from Pine, but you never said it actually showed up in Thunderbird later. Is it possible it wasn't waiting for a certain time (I can't imagine anything in Thunderbird that could possibly do that) but that it was never going to show up?

Is there a chance this was moved into a junk folder?

What does "no matter what I tried" entail? Is it possible this was sorted near a much earlier message with the same Subject? Did you try sorting by date or searching for the message to make sure it wasn't there?

Server is WU-IMAP.

You are correct, that I saw it in pine but not tbird while sharing the folder.  After forwarding it to myself, the forward showed up in both.

The original (headers I pasted above) became visible in my Inbox (I use no filters, so no, it could not have been "misfiled") after the time on the headers matched the time in TBird's host machine.

"No matter what I tried" means "get mail", sort every which way; search for the keyword (Listeria - how many Listeria emails does a guy get???); closing and reopining tbird.

Attachment: unexpandable bar that occurs when receiving mail with future date

I can confirm this bug partly, using latest official stable build Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; de; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100111 Thunderbird/3.0.1.



I got a mail from a user whose system clock was wrongly set one month ahead. I prefer the "group by sorting" view and sort by date, so I have bars that I can expand, named "today", "yesterday" etc. - with the mail from the future, I got an additional bar which couldn't be expanded and which didn't have a name (see upper part of attachment). Reindexing didn't help, the only way to make the mail visible was to deactivate "group by sorting" option (lower part of attachment).
AFAIR TB2 handled this by displaying all mails from the future below the "Today" bar.
