Mozbot assumes that Tinderbox output must have a state line for the tree to be valid, and therefore it skips such trees when outputting their status (mozbot: trees or mozbot: qt) even though it continues to work successfully and report changes in build machine status. Tinderbox currently relies on Bonsai for an 'official' state, and for Hg trees, Bonsai doesn't function, so theres no state given (Bug 453433). The goal of this bug is simply for mozbot to report an Unknown state for such trees itself, and not skip them. Until Bug 453433 is fixed.
