Need to be able to configure different community spotlights for the new design. Mary, a couple Q's... Will be multiple community spotlights at one time? Or is there only ever one? How flexible should the content be? On one design I see.. Picture Member name Member for Country Affiliate stats and two links... Meet this member View blog posts I could see these fields changing per spotlight, e.g. one isn't an Affiliate and another doesn't blog. How do you envision editing these? I was thinking a simple WYSIWYG editor could handle it. It would take a little more work to prepare the content, but would be flexible. Also, how will you get the picture and what will you do if you can't get a picture? Is this something every member already has or doesn't? Or will you be asking them personally for a picture?
Hey there: We'll spotlight one person at a time unless it would be possible to show others when the page is refreshed. Let me know how difficult this is. My vision for this interface would be wysiwyg editor and a list of info with check boxes that would allow me to "activate" different fields since we won't have the same info for everyone. Select check box to activate Member name [insert copy] *this would be a default field* [ ] Member for [draws from user database] [ ] Picture [upload pic] [ ] Country [ ] Affiliate stats [Draws from affiliate database automatically] [ ] Meet this member [leads to page with a write up from me on why they are great with the wysiwyg editor] [ ] View blog [insert URL] Wrt to their pictures they will come from a combination of sources (our community flickr account, directly from the user, etc.) -- primarily external to SFx. Does this all make sense?
Checking if there is an admin form yet or if I should give you all the content for this first Community Spotlight. Lemme know :)

Hi there: Just in case here is the info needed for the spotlight. I need Name: Vineel Reddy Country: India User Name: vineel reddy p Member since 30 weeks 6 days Blog: www.sreadthefire.blogspot.com Affiliate points: 0 - don't think we should show this on the community spotlight unless we can get affiliate points remedied. Meet this member (new page -- Mary to create): Vineel Reddy, a campus rep for X years, is helping Firefox take India by storm! Vineel lives in Hyderabad and attends ____ University. Vineel took a simple approach when he first started as a campus rep. He just told every friend and family member about Firefox and then some! He started a blog [www.sreadthefire.blogspot.com] to chronicle all his Firefox activities. From there Vineel started the Mozilla "Open" Club -- he got his inspiration from Issa Mahasneh's JUST MozillaClub [http://www.just.edu.jo/opensource/mozillaclub/index.html] at Jordan University. He's hosted three successful events so far including a talk with Ankit Fadia, a well-known hacker, and Bhuvan Krishna, a member of Swecha.org, a free software foundation in India. Vineel has done a great job taking photos and documenting all his efforts. Good work and keep it up, Vineel!

r23119, hard-code the community spotlight content. Mary, have you created the Meet This Member page yet? Can you give it a URL of /spotlights/vineel_reddy please? Let me know if you want me to create that page. Thanks

I'm changing this bug to reflect the hard-coded content and creating a new one for the admin panel in 3.1. new one is bug 483785 (In reply to comment #8) > Presh :) We'll need to update his member history when we get close to launch! maybe we could make it less exact so we don't have to update it every day?

Gotcha -- let's say less 34 weeks to be on the safe side. I plan on getting a new person in the following week.

Clicking on "View blog posts" opens a blog maintained by a British guy called Pastor Rick (http://www.spreadthefire.blogspot.com/) whereas the blog maintained by Vineel Reddy is (http://www.sreadthefire.blogspot.com/) SO reopening this bug.
