User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009011913 Firefox/3.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009011913 Firefox/3.0.6

Right click, no download. Click to save/downlad/run a file, nothing. Same problem with safe mode. Seemed to start with 3.0.5, and not fix with 3.0.6. I have to use explorer to download or save files.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.search for images in google image
2.right click to save image as
3.nothing happens
Actual Results:
Even in safe mode!

THis happens even if I go to a site that I have rights to download files etc... It no longer wants to download or save files, but again i have NO issues with IE.
Plese type about:config , confirm the warning, enter "download" in the filter box at the top and confirm that this three variables are containing valid paths :
browser.download.dir , browser.download.downloadDir , browser.download.lastDir and that they don't point to not existing paths/drives.
Okay I am not a teckie, so please explain further what you are requesting above.
Okay I am not a teckie, so please explain further what you are requesting above.
Hmm, i don't know what how i could explain that further.
Please type about:config in Firefox as URL in the URLbar..... , locate the 3 strings as explained and look at the value of this 3 strings if one points for example to a removed flash drive letter
I am having this problem as well. Where you save the file to does not matter, be it the desktop or C:/, the file type doesn't matter, the length of the file name doesn't matter, and torrents are also having this problem. And like it was said, mine also is only happening in Firefox.

I did as you suggested with the about:config, all three folders are valid and where they are supposed to be.
Kat: Can't save is a little bit unspecific. Do you get the save as window or do you use the always save to the default (example desktop) location ?
I manually save to certain folders depending on what kind of file it is. Torrents are separate and saved automatically.

The small window will open up, but the bottom bar where you can type the name you want to save the file as is gone, and if you press save anyways it still won't save. The folder directory dropdown bar on top is gone as well.

I took some screenshots, in case I'm making any of you confused. The first one is what my 'save as' window normally looks like (diff browser), and the second one is what it looks like in Firefox, now.

I should also add that FF is still able to upload files from my comp. onto the internet.
Kat: I'm unsure if you have the same issue as the reporter. Do you get this with the Firefox safemode :
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
or a new profile
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
I really do not know what more I can tell you. If I go to ANY site, and right click to save a file, I get nothing. No option to save the file to. NOTHING!. If I click a link that is to open another window to save a file, the window will not open. It is not an option of where to save the files. The "save file to" dialog box does not appear. This is with ANY type of save. Right clicking on an image, clicking on a link designed to download a file, anything. I can turn off download helper... same issue. I can launch in safe mode. Same thing. I have to open the site in IE to save anything. INCREDIBLY INCONVENIENT! Thanks for any and all help.
Mark: You get no offer to save the file and that's the difference between you and mailto:psykat@hotmail.com. Kat should open a new bug because he doesn't see your issue.

And for your issue:
The bug you get is in 99% known and already fixed (in the nightly build, not in a release). It's very simple to fix yourself but you failed to follow comment#1 which is very simple:
Type about:config as URL in Firefox URL bar (where you enter URLs), confirm the following warning. You should get a site with many variables and a filter box at the top. Enter download in this filter box and you should only get ~10 results.
You should look at this three variables :
browser.download.dir , browser.download.downloadDir , browser.download.lastDir

Are the paths of this variables valid on your system or does one of them point to a non existing directory or drive letter ?
A valid example value from my Firefox is C:\Users\Matti\Desktop\Downloads
browser.download.lastDir;C:\Documents and Settings\Taylor\Desktop\Ren F
browser.download.useDownloadDir;true

and there is no other Dirs I have been having the same problem
